This summer has had it's ups and downs.

Each morning I get my gear ready. Water bottle, gloves, work clothes, lunch, keys, phone? Check. I get on my hybrid road bike and start pedaling against the wind. The commute to the office is about 4.5 miles after a bus transfer. My legs feel strong. I meet my friends and we ride in a line like a chain. As the cars pass us, I imagine a carbon-free world with bike and walking paths that lead to everywhere!

Our wedding day is almost near and the summer has been busy with planning! Despite the talk of centerpieces, dresses, cake, and flowers, all I'm truly focused on is the happiness and love that brought me here. The celebration will be beautiful and I can't wait to party, but let the details stand on their own. Nothing matters except what is in our hearts.

Yesterday, I went to Pride in San Francisco. From Embarcadero to Civic Center, the streets were filled with love. People of all ages, faiths, backgrounds, colors and identities united in a dance. An earth dance. A tribal march. A parade of forty fabulous years. I felt honored to be there amongst fellow activists who have fought so hard to come this far and will never give up. Equality will be won and it will be a victorious day!

Earlier this month, a dear loved one passed away and was laid peacefully to rest. His life was truly remarkable and has filled me with such inspiration and hope. So many people came to say goodbye and thank you for all he had provided. I knew him only 9 years. His laugh will always be with me.

Life is amazing. I am thankful for the sun which warms me and for the moon that lights my way. . Cool watermelon, tart cherries and sweet peaches. I love the taste of summer. I think I'll go to the garden tomorrow.
